Baby Updates!

So today I had my growth scan at the perinatologist office and everything went great. I now measure a whopping 37 weeks while in actuality I am only almost 23, yikes! All my parts looked great and were measuring on track. As for the babies they looked wonderful and were still measuring at or ahead of an average single baby which the doctor said was really super great for triplets at this stage. Below are some pics from today including one babies thunder thigh (these are photos of photos so sorry for the poor quality)!

Baby A - 1lb 3oz
Baby B - 1lb
Baby C - 1lb 3oz
Average weight for singleton at 22w4d - 15.7oz

On another note, my sister-in-law Amy dropped me off at my appt. today along with my little sister Kira. Both sisters were able to feel a baby kick which was really exciting since they were the first people other than Brian to feel any movement!

I miss you dear drugs...

Out of no where, whammo I have allergies like crazy. Itchy throat, cough, drainage, stinging eyes...yuck. While it was delicious, red licorice doesn't cure this issue like the ladies on the Internet said. Oh dear drugs today I severely miss you....

Assembly Part 1

So Saturday was a very unusual day in the Milligan household for one main reason. You see yesterday Brian decided to NOT play golf and instead slept in and then set up 2 of the 3 baby cribs! Yippee! While it was a tedious process (or so it looked) he said it was actually easier than he expected and after golf today is going to go buy the 3rd crib and get it setup as well (its funny how places only stock 2 of each crib at a time and look almost cross eyed when you say you want to buy 3). So below are some pics of him getting them set up along with 3 new little friends that my sister got us as a baby shower gift who were cheering him on (please ignore the mess, our house is officially under construction now).

Your Pregnancy - 22 Weeks

At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his body and the deep wrinkles on his skin, which he'll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily. Your baby's acrobatics are pretty constant, and since he responds to sound, rhythm and melody, you can try singing and talking to him. After he's born, the same sounds will soothe him.

At 22 weeks your baby has a survival rate of 10% if born (this stat is so important to us too as preterm labor is such a concern with triplets. While 10% isn't much, its a whole lot more than the 0% we had last week! Grow babies Grow!)

22 Week Belly Pics!

So below are my official 22 week belly shots. Pretty soon I'm going to have to have Brian start holding it up for the pics. Can you believe I still have 3 more months to grow... yikes!

Labor & Delivery - Trip 1

So last night I finally realized how scary this whole pregnancy thing really is. You see whether or not you have three babies or not its really hard to distinguish what a contraction is during your first pregnancy. They say its when your stomach tightens but mostly your stomach always feels tight. Now with triplets it gets even more complex because they push their heads or butts up against the skin making a very hard spot. If two or three do it at the same time you end up with a really hard stomach. Anyways, last night I was having a mix of these head butts and contractions and ended freaking myself out enough that maybe they were all contractions and ended up in Labor & Delivery. Sure enough only the ones that took the wind out of me were actual contractions and the doctor said it was completely normal at this stage in a triplet pregnancy. As long as they didn't come regularly or stronger, no worries. Everything else look really good and we were released within a couple hours. So now I'm going to really try to keep my heart rate under control when these occur and know that it doesn't mean labor is imminent just that there are three foot long babies in my tummy and my body is really confused on what it should do. The good news is I now definitely know the difference between contractions and headbutts so I can stop poking those poor little heads when they come to the surface.

The Bain of my Existance

Yes you are looking at the correct picture, these mattress are beginning to cause me constant misery. You see I had been told to buy the cheapest mattress out there because it really didn't matter, which I agree. But then I came across this article that talks about the reduced risks of SIDS when you have an extra firm foam mattress or a coil mattress that has at least 150 coils. Well it turns out the third cheapest mattress at Babies R Us had 150 coils, yippee, right? No. The third cheapest crib mattress costs a whopping $84.99! Times three plus tax that is almost $300! Not to mention I now feel a mix of guilt that I bought the bare minimum of SIDS approved coils while also feeling like an idiot for spending more on crib mattresses than we spent on the queen mattress in the spare bedroom. Who knew having three babies at once would be so complex...oh yeah...everyone.
